Introduction
In today’s episode, we immerse ourselves in a guided practice inspired by loving-kindness meditation and iRest techniques. Together, we’ll set personal intentions, connect with our inner resources, and practice offering heartfelt kindness to ourselves, our loved ones, and even those we may find challenging. Through body scans, mindful breath, and the cultivation of gratitude and joy, this episode is an invitation to rest, reflect, and become aware of the spaciousness that holds all of our experiences.
Here’s a short recap of our journey together:
Setting Intention: We began by gently reflecting on what we each hoped to receive from the practice—a bit of rest, ease, or simply a deeper connection with our true nature.
Body & Breath Awareness: Bringing awareness to the body, I encouraged you to scan with loving curiosity and appreciation, noticing sensations just as they are. We connected to the giving and receiving nature of our breath, using it as a vehicle for gratitude.
Inner Resource: We spent time calling forth our “inner resource,” that felt sense of safety and well-being that you can always return to—your anchor throughout practice.
Offering Loving Kindness: We offered kind wishes to ourselves, then extended those blessings to benefactors, loved ones, and even those we’ve had difficulty with. Simple phrases like May I be safe and protected. May I be peaceful. May I be healthy. May I live with ease. were silently repeated, feeling their resonance in our bodies.
Widening Compassion: As our hearts expanded, we imagined each breath as radiant light, connecting us to the universal wish that all beings be safe, peaceful, healthy, and at ease.
Gratitude & Spacious Awareness: Before closing, we lingered in gratitude and explored the spacious awareness in which all these experiences unfold.
💬 Let’s Reflect Together
What does loving kindness mean to you personally, and how did the guided meditation shift your understanding of it?
How did the body scan with a focus on loving awareness change the way you relate to physical sensations or discomfort?
Gratitude and joy were explored as a part of the meditation. How did reflecting on recent moments of gratitude affect your mental state or bodily sensations?
What thoughts or resistance, if any, surfaced during the loving kindness practice, especially when offering well wishes to someone you’ve had difficulty with?
Use as journal prompts or share your reflections in the comments—I’d love to hear how impermance is alive in your practice.
